From deepwater to floating wind

Floating offshore wind introduces new conditions, system layouts and operational challenges. While the sector continues to develop, many fundamentals of offshore mooring are well understood.

For decades, Bexco has supplied synthetic mooring solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry, including deepwater and permanent installations. This background provides proven manufacturing processes, established quality control and a strong understanding of offshore execution.

In floating wind, this experience is applied with careful consideration. Established offshore practices are used where appropriate, while new approaches are adopted where required by the application.

Synthetic rope in floating offshore wind

Synthetic rope offers practical advantages for floating offshore wind mooring systems, particularly in handling, logistics and installation. At the same time, floating wind projects introduce new considerations that benefit from careful discussion and joint decision-making.

We work with project teams to explore how synthetic rope can be used as part of the wider mooring system. Material selection, system configuration and installation approach are considered together to ensure the chosen solution aligns with project objectives and operational requirements.

Reducing complexity offshore

Offshore installation efficiency and predictability are key considerations for floating wind projects. Approaches based on external buoyancy modules can introduce additional components, interfaces and handling steps.

BEXCO® Manta-Line synthetic rope, engineered with integrated buoyancy, offers a streamlined alternative by incorporating buoyancy directly within the mooring line preciselywhere it’s required.
